Belden has introduced a new portfolio of connectivity and cybersecurity solutions designed to modernize industrial networks. The launch includes gel-free fiber cables, extended Ethernet options, and Remote IP OSP cables for longer runs. Cybersecurity is strengthened with the IAF-240 firewall, offering multi-layered protection and deep packet inspection, while the updated PROVIZE software simplifies configuration and planning. With added certifications for Hirschmann switches, Belden delivers secure, reliable tools for automation and critical infrastructure environments.

Innovative Fibre and Copper Connectivity
To meet the growing needs in automation, Belden has added innovative fiber and copper connectivity options to its cable portfolio. These new solutions include gel-free loose-tube optical fiber cables, designed to eliminate using traditional gel compounds, which can be messy. The cables are loosely placed fibres inside a small, protective, semi-rigid tube that resists moisture ingress, maintaining rugged performance for demanding outdoor installations.
Belden's Remote IP OSP Cables simplify deployment by increasing the channel distance for Ethernet by 215 meters, exceeding the traditional 100-meter standard, without causing significant heat and power loss. This cable type is compatible with Belden's REVConnect systems, allowing users to save on the cost of having additional extenders. The classic Essential Lite LSZH also forms part of Belden's connectivity solution. It reduces smoke and halogen emissions while delivering serial and analog data performance, making it suitable for installations where fire safety is critical.

Industrial Cybersecurity Solutions
Regarding cybersecurity solutions for industries, Belden's new industrial firewall, IAF-240, offers scalable multi-layered protection in one solution for operational technology (OT) networks. By reducing downtime and operational risks, the industrial firewall provides a comprehensive suite of features that make it well-suited for demanding industrial setups. Among these features is stateful and deep packet inspection (DPI), which analyzes and blocks malicious activity in network traffic, going beyond traditional port-based and IP address blocking by considering the specific industrial protocol in use.
The IAF-240 firewall's layered defence solution lowers the total cost of ownership, reducing the need for having separate systems. Its DIN rail mountable and ruggedized industrial design provides easy installation and reliable operation for both indoor and outdoor industrial cabinets. With an IP30 aluminum housing, the new industrial solution also features approval for use in hazardous locations, making it suitable for a range of demanding industrial and manufacturing settings such as wastewater treatment and oil and gas plants.
When it comes to connectivity, the IAF-240 is equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) RJ45 ports, which also support VPNs such as OpenVPN, IPsec, and WireGuard, along with anti-malware and web filtering capabilities.
Software Advancement for Network Planning
Belden's PROVIZE Suite v1.11 introduces a MultiConfig functionality in its PROVIZE Explorer that simplifies commissioning by allowing bulk updates, such as password resets, firmware updates, and IP assignment, simultaneously across multiple devices. For planning of complex networks, the new software suite features support for the GREYHOUND2000 switch.
The software suite includes the PROVIZE Planner, which features advanced planning functions such as enhanced redundancy protocols and configuration options, all within an improved, intuitive user interface, for improved reliability in critical deployments. This, combined with the PROVIZE Explorer for maintenance and commissioning of physical devices, the new software suite holds the potential to reduce errors during configurations and speed up deployment in large-scale automation environments.
Certified Security for Critical Infrastructure
Belden also announced new Certifications that strengthen trust in its industrial networking portfolio. The Hirschmann BOBCAT Switches now feature IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2, meeting international cybersecurity standards for control systems and industrial automation. The certification process follows IEC 62443-4-1 maturity level 4, which ensures that the switches are designed within a secure framework, giving users confidence that their networking infrastructure meets the growing compliance needs.
Building Networks for the Future
Belden's approach shows the evolution of connectivity not only through a single innovation but also through a series of connected solutions that address modern challenges. Belden aims to provide engineers with a practical solution for modernization without an entire system overhaul by simplifying fiber installation, enhancing OT network security, and expanding Ethernet reach. This approach, which includes critical security features, sets a new standard for industries seeking secure industrial networking, emphasizing that connectivity and cybersecurity are part of the same design equation.
