Delta Electronics has merged AI-guided machine vision, digital twin technology, voice-guided control, and advanced sensor technology in its newly released Cognibot Kit. This integrated technology serves as an add-on to Delta’s D-Bot series collaborative robots, providing the robots with enhanced perception, AI-powered responsive decision-making, and control for a variety of industrial applications.

The D-Bot Series Cobots
Delta’s D-Bot collaborative robot series offers a range of payload capacities from 6 kg to 30 kg and a reach of 800 mm to 1300 mm. The cobots feature omnidirectional mounting, meaning they can be mounted on the wall, ceiling, and table. Each cobot is programmable through a drag-and-drop interface. The D-Bot series has an ingress protection rating of IP66, which provides a high level of protection against water and dust.
Additionally, the D-Bot series of cobots can operate at an ambient temperature of 0 ºC - 40 ºC and interface through EtherNet/IP, I/O Ports, and Modbus RTU. A reflex safety feature provides obstacle avoidance, allowing robots to detect potential contact and reverse their path, mitigating unwanted collisions, enhancing the safety of human workers, and preventing damage to nearby equipment. The D-Bot series robots exhibit a repeatability margin of ±0.02 m, are customizable for desired applications, and eliminate the need for expensive safety measures.

The Cognibot Kit
The Cognibot Kit add-on for Delta’s D-Bot series cobots, combines AI and sensor technology to enhance robotic perception and processing, featuring multimodal AI interaction, 3D machine vision, audio-responsiveness (voice recognition), and more. It is intended to help bridge the gap between dynamic, learning-based systems and classical control logic.
For autonomous operation and voice-guided recognition, the Cognibot Kit comes with a 360-degree array of microphones. A 3D vision sensor facilitates engagement and perception of space by detecting objects and recognizing gestures. A built-in speaker provides audio output for system feedback. The inclusion of Wi-Fi connectivity allows for wireless communication and lessens the need for physical data hookups.
The Cognibot Kit is powered by an edge AI computer module called the Power AI Box, which provides large-scale, real-time processing for sophisticated robotic applications. The Power AI Box serves as a supportive auxiliary controller that executes AI inference models that influence robot perception (such as object recognition, data pooling from integrated sensors, and exacting decisions based on such data). Adaptive, context-sensitive behaviors can work alongside deterministic motion control because tasks that require heavy-duty computation are delegated from the primary robot controller. It allows robots to engage with unpredictable surroundings and human workers with intelligence and agility.
