SensoPart has released the newest version of its vision sensor software, VISOR, which has many expanded capabilities over previous versions. VISOR software-release 2.12 is available for download and features enhanced shape detection capability, automatic brightness control, and faster classification algorithms.
Shape Find Detector
One of the major improvements in VISOR version 2.12 is the shape detection algorithm. In this latest version, the Shape Find detector can identify circles, squares, rectangles, and others, and can tally them quickly. Consider a printed circuit board with dozens of screw holes. VISOR 2.12 can identify precise coordinates so that a robot can automatically and precisely fasten the PCB’s screws.

Caliper, Circle Detector
Assembly operations, such as automated screw placement and tightening, rely on accurate measurement of screw holes, heads, and other circular measurements. With the enhanced Caliber, Circle Tool, circle diameters can be measured quickly to ensure the proper tolerances and correct screw selection. This tool can be applied to other circular parts, such as washers, O-rings, perforations, and pins.
The quick, circular measurements make it possible to verify machining operations. For example, consider a drilling operation that must drill round holes in a bulk material. The diameter of these holes can be measured from several different angles, providing not just a diameter, but an “out of roundness” measurement that can help track drill bit walk and other such problems.

VISOR Software-Release 2.12
Other VISOR software enhancements include an automatic brightness control, which automatically adjusts light to the appropriate level during imaging. This feature is essential in high-speed operations where components of different colors may pass through the inspection station quickly. Ultimately, this feature can reduce false positives during quality control efforts without requiring more human intervention.
A new Classification AI system is included in the VISOR XE version. This algorithm leverages AI to detect shapes up to 25 times faster than before. For “OK” and “Not OK” (or Go/No Go) checks, it can classify from 200 possible matches in as little as 10 ms.
VISOR 2.12 also includes a new web-based tool for code-readers. The SensoConfig Web tool allows users to configure settings without having to download software on a tablet, PC, or smartphone.

Enhancing Machine Vision
SensoPart has designed VISOR version 2.12 to be used with its VISOR vision sensors to speed up applications like automated inspection, assembly, and machining operations. To help users set up the new Shape Find detector, SensoPart has authored an application guide, and the company will provide a free webinar on July 17, 2025, to help visually guide users through the process.
